Synopsis
Having always struggled with meateater’s guilt, documentary filmmaker and animal lover Helenah Swedberg decides to hold off on becoming vegetarian and instead investigate a radically different option: hunting.
Hunting for food has become an increasingly popular element within the local food movement in the past few years. In this film, Helenah shadows Jackson Landers, who pioneered teaching deer hunting to adult beginners, and who recently branched out to hunting and eating invasive species.
What neither of them expected in the midst of suspenseful hunts, roadtrips and creative dinners, was that love would come to spire between the documentary filmmaker and her subject.
Close To The Bone is a documentary about hunting, sustainability, and love. It is slated for release in the fall of 2012.
