The Film
Close To The Bone
In 2011, in the midst of completing her M.A. in Film and Video at American University in Washington, DC, Helenah Swedberg came in contact with Jackson Landers through his hunting blog, the Locavore Hunter. At the time, Helenah was what she calls “vegi-curious,” having deliberated becoming a vegetarian for a while. However, she was drawn in by Jackson’s vegetarian-turned-hunter perspective on eating meat, and fascinated by his recent approach to hunt invasive species for food. She began filming his work as part of her thesis film project. Over the months that followed, Helenah and Jackson fell in love. Close To The Bone is the story of three crazy months that changed everything. The film is currently in post-production and will be available this coming fall.
